2018: VARP NY: Romana Drdová (CZ)

Romana Drova

August 1–October 15, 2018
Art in General, New York

Romana Drdová works across media: objects, photography and installation. Her work is characterized by its pure aesthetic, often even transparency, and use of light, matter and emptiness combined with specific materials and techniques. Besides the context of visual arts, she finds inspiration in the world of fashion, technology and design. Sensitively and metaphorically, she deals with perception and human interaction in the time of “data smog.”

Drdová graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2017. She also went on several study stays, e.g. at the Korean University in Seoul and at the studios of visiting professors Florian Pumhösel and Nicole Wermers at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Her work has been shown primarily at Czech independent institutions (solo exhibitions at Prague’s Centre for Contemporary Art Futura and Karlin Studios) as well as at the National Gallery in Prague and internationally in Vienna, Berlin and Brussels. www.romanadrdova.com

Romana will be in residence at Art in General from August 1–October 15, 2018 through the support of ART IN GENERAL and the International Visegrad Fund.
