FUTURA
  • Processing a Mirage(25.11.2009 - 7.2.2010)Marshall McLuhan was one of the first to point out the connection between the media and the human sensory system, formulating the theory of a “media aesthetic.” He considered the media not just as neutral instruments to convey a message, but as a product of the mutation of our way of feeling and thinking, becoming themselves the real content of the message.
  • Residence 09: Alicja Karska & Aleksandra Went, Václav Magid, Tomáš Makara (25.11.2009 - 7.2.2010)Within the framework of Residence 09 FUTURA introduces works by three international artists, Manuela Viera-Gallo (CH), Tamas Kaszás (HU) and Marlon de Azambuja (BR), who have within the past four months taken part in the Prague residency program. Although works presented are not connected by topic or form, they can be understood as a reflection of the Czech setting, by artists coming from a different cultural background.
  • Maria Lindberg (2.9. - 31.10.2009)Informal and yet with explicit precision regarding both formality and thought, anchored in early idea art and related to the practices of the Fluxus movement: Swedish artist Maria Lindberg’s work is filled with integrity and gives an example of independent and consistent thinking that continually challenges the eye and mind of the observer in its investigation of the fraudulence of language and thought.

  • Anca Benera: Uncertain Past / Unpredictable Future...(16.5.-9.8.2009)The statue of Vladimir Ilici Lenin from Bucharest has a paradoxical history “wearing” not only the mark of the different styles of sculpture and of the violent political changes from the capital of Romania but also giving the impression that, by taking revenge upon the people which have showed no respect, it has changed or it has even destroyed at his turn a couple of destinies.
