"We do not desire to demonstrate against the fact that, after years of threats, they will now most probably really destroy Karlin Studios and build on its ruins a sort of tacky shopping center, office building or something similar. Now we probably won’t have any occasion to go to Karlin anymore (not that we are in Karlin so often) and find some other distractions.
It is true that we are pretty outraged that the municipality complicated the project of move to another building. But frankly, the word gentrification makes us yawn already. At Karlin Studios were definitely some good exhibitions, best we of course remember our own. Also, many average exhibitions, as it is almost everywhere. And certainly some great parties, yes we like to remember them! The bottom line is that this is a pity, but we personally have neither the inclination nor the power to take position here in a somehow sophisticated manner. Scheherazade tells the same tale every night, only once happening here and once there. Concretely about Karlin Studios, many stories were already told (maybe too much, how many times was it a subject of discussions?), and we also believe in the fact that someone else will probably be willing to speak about it in a more intellectual discourse. We definitely won’t.
We responded to an open call for proposals, because we like to apply to open calls. Especially those which encourage and urge, in an institutional context, to permanent destruction. But we only want to destroy with gentle arms! Through our common desire we would like to use this opportunity to create an absurd spectacle, layers of embarrassing ideas that we don’t attempt to reach the level of contemporary art (or only a little bit, we can't help ourselves). Through our childish affection for those well-known stories about Dada we picked-up the name of the event from the dictionary on Adela’s smartphone with an hipster-like broken display. An evening about cute women's ability to smash gracefully, which the witch from Morozko somehow forgot in the middle of the flood of different worries. About absurdity, beauty, love, freedom, equality and sisterhood. And after us the deluge to come. Or even the new exhibition of Pas.
